Until recently, I was always a car traveler. If I couldn’t drive somewhere, I wouldn’t go there. But that changed last June, and I’ve now taken 3 (about to be 4) plane trips. In that time, I’ve learned quite a few tricks for bringing my oils along safely and according to the TSA.
Consideration of Others
Remember when you travel on planes or trains (or even cars), you are going to be in very close proximity to others. They may or may not appreciate your oiliness, so make sure that if you are oiling up, you are using ones that are a lighter scent or more appealing to the masses. I mean, we know that DiGize Vitality is amazing (especially with all of the activity and odd food from traveling), but not everyone loves the smell, right?
Carry-On or Checked?
This is a very difficult decision. When I travel with my oils, I want them close to me because I worry that I will lose my checked bag. If you want to be sure that you won’t have trouble with airport security, then you will want to check them or have them count in your carry-on liquids.
What to Bring
Now here is the extensive list. I know that I will not be including all of the important daily oils and supplements that you will want to include, but these are my travel-specific oils that I enjoy bringing with me.
You definitely need to do a lot of whole body immune support, and I love using Super C, NingXia Red packets, and Inner Defense (like Thieves in a capsule form with a boost). I also know that if my gut health is supported, so is my immune system, so I would highly recommend Life 9 probiotic and Sulfurzyme. Even if you are totally healthy now, you will be inundated with so many yuckies. Keep the immune systems up now. Start taking these at least a week before you travel.
Then you need the Thieves Hand Purifier and Thieves Spray or Wipes to clean yourself or your hotel room. You could also do this nifty trick of using a travel baby wipe bag (my choice is Water Wipes) and add 1 oz of undiluted Thieves Household Cleaner to the package for a DIY Thieves Wipes.
You will also be eating much different food, so having Essentialzymes-4 (to be taken at every lunch and dinner) and Digest & Cleanse (like DiGize in a ready-made capsule) will be huge for maintaining a healthy tummy. When we traveled on our week-long cruise, I also added 2 Detoxyme capsules to my bedtime routine, and I liked it so much that I have continued it since returning home. We have an entire blog post related to healthy gut function, so I would highly recommend checking that out.
Finally, think sleep! Different place, different bed, and different time zone. I love Northern Lights Black Spruce or Cedarwood in the diffuser, but the most important thing is consistency with what you have at home. Before we left for our trip, we had been diffusing Elemi and Myrtle in my twins’ nursery, so guess which two came on the trip with us? It actually ended up being perfect because Elemi (“poor man’s Frankincense”) was great for creating a calming environment after a hectic but exciting day. Myrtle helped us to breathe easy each evening (they cleaned the rooms each day with chemical-based cleaners that our bodies weren’t used to, so this was a helpful step).
If you want something else with an added punch, think of Tranquil Roll On or SleepEssence capsules. Some of our team also loves ImmuPro Chewable Tablets, as they contain melatonin.
Whenever packing, it is always ideal to travel with the original containers. But with the vast amount of supplements that I bring, it just wouldn’t be possible. My recommendation is take any of your YL beauty products in contact cases (face scrub, moisturizer, shampoo, conditioner, etc.). It’s helpful so you’re not taking a ton of bottles or space! They also won’t leak.
What Do I Pack?
Recently, I took a week-long cruise with my family, which included my kids’ first plane rides, an overnight hotel stay, and then the 7 night cruise. Needless to say, I wanted to be prepared with what to expect. Here is the list of the oils, blends, and products that I brought with me:

So obviously, this is not an exhaustive list. What would you make sure to include?
