Since coming back from convention, I get two questions: how is the makeup and what do you think of the sunscreen and insect repellent. I will talk about the first question in this post!
Let me put it all out there. I grew up in the theatre, so from the age of about 8, I was applying my own makeup (for the various shows and performances that I was doing). I had professional makeup artists teach me when I was 11 and in my first professional theatre production. I took my first stage makeup class when I was 12. So knowing the basics of makeup is nothing new to me.
But as an adult, I have rarely worn makeup. Call it laziness or good skin or good genes, but I just have mostly gone through my adult life with mascara and a slight color on my lips. However, I've always owned makeup, and I usually have gone for the better brands because quality and ingredients are important to me.
And then everything changed when Young Living introduced Savvy Minerals by Young Living. Every single day since Convention, I have made a point to put on my makeup, even on days when I may not have showered (but I won't tell which days those were). I LOVE this makeup. I love how effortless it is. I love how natural it looks, and I love how I can easily play and sweat and not feel worried about having these particles sitting on my skin.
I will admit, I got caught up in the excitement of the reveal and announcement. How could I not when I was sitting next to two highly-respected Diamonds (Niccole Perez and Melissa Sanches) during the product reveal?
Want to see the big reveal? Here's my video of the announcement from General Session and the video of Gary, Mary, Melissa, and Jared talking about our new Savvy Minerals lineup.
Did I wait in the hours of lines at the YL Expo to get color matched? No. I wanted to, but I was so excited to visit the other rooms over and over again: trying the products, picking up samples, talking to the members of Corporate who were there to train us on product knowledge, connecting with my team and crossline members...
So when it was time to pick out my colors, I leaned on the help of friends, but it was still a shot in the dark. So I bought my colors without testing them first, and it worked out perfectly.
They say that mineral makeup is forgiving. Ours is. They say that it blends well. Ours does. They say that you can build on it to make light or heavy coverage. I speak from experience: yes!
Why Does Safe Makeup Matter?
My First Impression of Savvy Minerals
After 1 Week, My Real Thoughts:
What About Color Matching?
This is a huge question, and I know that some people are very worried about trying makeup before they actually purchase. Here's the thing, please remember that this is incredibly forgiving makeup. That's the benefit of mineral pigmentation.
Wondering which is the right color for you? We have compiled the best advice for how to find the best color choices. When I bought my entire Savvy Minerals lineup, I never once tried any of the colors before picking. I just went off of these guidelines. And my colors are PERFECT! Of course, it helps that mineral makeup is build-able, blend-able, and very forgiving!
If you want to get some major versatility, pick three shades to start with: a light color (I use Residual), a darker accent for the crease of the lid (I use Determined), and an accent color for the lids (my current shade is Crushin'). You can decide to minimize it, but if you want to have a lot of options, these three are the way to go. Make sure to use your Misting Spray on the brushes so that you can have a deeper foiled effect with more lasting color. I mean, I even can get splashed in the pool and the eye makeup stays put!
Out of the three options, Smashin' has a bit more pink pigment to it, I Do Believe Your Blushin' has more shimmer, and Passionate is a much deeper color. I use IDBYB.
Lip Gloss Options
We currently have 2 shades of lip gloss, and I use Abundant. It. Is. Amazing. I never thought that I would be so head over heels in love with a rather nude lip. It's so understated but also has the right amount of shine. And because it has peppermint in it... natural plumping for these thin thin lips!
I love that for these being natural lip color, they are so different. I have not tried these myself, but I just ordered Uptown Girl. Apparently Uptown Girl Lipstick + Abundant Lip Gloss are terrific together. I can't wait to try it out myself!
Cost & Value Comparison
The following comes from widely-circulated posts on Facebook about the value and cost comparison of Savvy Minerals:
- These prices do not include the ER points we earn on ordering Savvy Minerals through our ER orders! We can get a savings of up to 25% on all of these products! That does way more for me than being a Sephora Beauty Club member!
- Our makeup does not contain bismuth or talc!!! Bismuth = wreaks havocon many people's skin and can cause acne. Talc = is on the "avoid list" for toxins!
- Our ingredients are PURE!!!! You won't find synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, fragrance or flavorings (apart from essential oils) in our ingredients! Savvy Minerals is also a cruelty-free line!
