We can use our current weight as a guide to know the amount of water to drink each day. By using Young Living essential oils can help us quench our thirst.
How Much Water are You Drinking?
Are you drinking enough water in your daily life? In general terms, you should drink 3 quarts of water a day. That’s 64 ounces or 8 cups. In actuality, you may want to drink the amount based on your body weight. There is a simple way to figure that out:
- Take your body weight and divide it by 2.
- Then, divide that by 8 to find out the number of cups of water that you should drink a day.
- Example: So if you weigh 160 lbs, you should drink 10 cups of water a day.
Why is Water Important?
Why do we drink water? Because it is literally what we are made of! Our bodies are approximately 60%, our brains are 70%, and our lungs are about 90% water. It also can help us with the following:
- cushions and lubricates joints
- nourishes and protects the brain, spinal cord, and tissues
- helps remove waste when we sweat and go to the bathroom (kidneys and bowels)
- keep a healthy amount of blood and heart pumping at a steady speed (dehydration reduces amount of blood and increases heart pumping)
- maintain a balance of bodily fluids
- help keep a healthy body temperature
- aids digestion
- helps weight goals
- energizes muscles
- maintains healthy skin
Ways to Help Drink More
I personally love the taste of water by itself, by one suggestion is that you can add in essential oils to your glass or stainless steel water cup (remember not to use plastic or styrofoam with oils):
- Lemon Vitality

One suggestion if you think that the one drop of oil is too strong in your water: put the drop in you cup, add the water, swirl it around so the oil coats the cup, and then pour the water out. You now have the flavor of the oil all along the cup. Now add your water again, and you will be good to go!
